Winter Youth/Mini Programs for 2024-25

Sep. 13, 2024

Winter Soccer Programs

2024-25

Winter soccer programs are offered at both the performance and community stream levels.

Performance - Winter performance stream programs are offered at the Skills Centre (U-9/10/11), youth (U-12/13/15/18) and senior levels. These are put on by the Valley United Soccer Club and generally involve weekly training sessions at the Kentville and/or Windsor facilities as well as local gymnasiums. Games are played on weekends both locally and at other venues across the province. More information on these programs can be found on the Valley United website - www.valleyunitedsc.ca

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Community  - Community stream programs take place at the Credit Union Rec Complex in Kentville.

Minis - (U-5, U-7, U-9, U-11) Sessions for these levels are put on jointly by the Valley District and Valley United. They take place on Sunday afternoons with an hour for each age level. They consist of skills development and small-sided games. There will be two 10 week programs offered. The first will go from early November into January. The second will run from late January to early April.

Youth - (U-13, U-15, U-19) This program will consist of three 8 week sessions and only involves games (no training). The first session will take place in November and December. The second will run in January and February. The third session is the “spring league” which runs through March and April and is open to both community and performance stream players. What age levels are actually offered and what days they will occur on is determined by pre-registration documents that are set up prior to the program. The one for the first session will be accessible in early October.

General rule of thumb is that there needs to be a minimum of 18 players interested for an age level to occur. From 18-30, the program will be run as a drop in where the players present are divided into two teams and play a game (with coaches and a referee). Over 30 players, a “league” with defined teams will be formed. Age levels may be adjusted to make things work (ie U-14 instead of U-13)

More specific program information and registration details for the community programs will be posted on both the VDSA (www.valleysoccer.org) and CURC (www.creditunionreccomplex.ca) websites in early October.
